The Rev. Kathleen Murray

Please reflect on your participation in the life of your congregation, the diocese, and the larger community:

I am relatively new to the diocese being only canonically resident here for 2 years. While being an ordained priest for 29 years, most of that time being in full time active ministry in small congregations, I have spent the last 12 years as a practicing family physician. I moved to the area to establish a medical practice in an underserved area. I have supplied throughout the diocese mostly assisting All Saints, Portsmouth and Christ Church, Ironton. Now that my medical practice has been established, I am eager and willing to take a more active part in the life of this diocese.

Why do you feel God is calling you to serve in this position?

With the COVID -19 Pandemic impacting the life of the church, I believe I have a unique combination of gifts that would complement the ministry of Diocesan Council between my experience of almost 3 decades as a priest dedicated to small church ministry, my experience as a practicing family physician in the midst of this pandemic and having earned an MBA. I will bring with me an understanding of how Covid is impacting churches and the diocese from a spiritual, physical and financial perspective.
