Barry Feist

Please reflect on your participation in the life of your congregation, the diocese, and the larger community:

I have thoroughly enjoyed being a part of the Holy Trinity (Kenwood, Cincinnati) family and serving as Senior Warden for the past 5 years. We are small but strong! I have also enjoyed serving on Diocesan Council for the past 3 years as a member of the Program and Ministry Review Committee and was active in the development of the current Diocesan vision, mission and strategy. It is rewarding to be part of such a dedicated and hard working group and contribute where I can to the Diocese. I am also actively involved in the Becoming Beloved Community movement in the Diocese. My family and I are very involved in our local community, Madeira, OH. I personally have served many years on school planning commission, helped construct the new stadium facilities at the high school and actively support music boosters and the school foundation. I currently sit on the Madeira City Planning Commission where we have responsibility for executing a comprehensive plan and updating the city code book.

Why do you feel God is calling you to serve in this position?

It seemed appropriate to look for other ways to help at the Diocesan level after serving 3 consecutive years on Diocesan Council. In this challenging time of change, Standing Committee seems like a good fit. I would hope to bring my professional experience in innovation, strategy and project management to bear, as well as what I have learned about the desires and challenges across the Diocese while serving on Diocesan Council. In particular, the vision/mission/strategy work allowed me to see the diversity along with the unifying principles across the Diocese. I also would hope my experience with the workings and challenges facing small churches, such as property and resource challenges, could be valuable on Standing Committee.
