I have served as Rector at Church of the Redeemer since October 2016. In that time, I have served on the Cathedral Chapter, the Disciplinary Board, and since 2018 as a clergy representative on the Standing Committee. My children attend the local public school, and I also serve on the Board there.
My first term on Standing Committee was marked by radical change and unforeseen circumstances due to the pandemic and Bishop Breidenthals’ illness and retirement. I have worked with the other members of the Committee on putting a transition plan in place, including selecting a Search Consultant, surveying the members of the Diocese, making one-on-one phone calls with clergy of all regions, organizing Zoom listening sessions, enlisting a consulting bishop to address alcoholic system concerns within Southern Ohio, and interviewing and calling our Provisional Bishop. It has been challenging to say the least, but I’ve been so grateful to be able to do it, and I feel called to stay with the work and be part of seeing this transition through. Should I be elected to a second term, I would like to hold the Committee accountable to breaking down some of the silos between regions, combatting a Cincinnati-centric attitude, and taking seriously in practical ways our commitment to the work of Becoming Beloved Community.
