I serve as the Rector of Christ Episcopal Church in Dayton, Ohio. Called to this position during Coronatide, I am still learning about the rich, varied, and inspiring history of this Diocese. This past year, I volunteered as chaplain for a session of Family Camp at Procter, and look forward to making this a regular practice. In my previous Diocese, the Diocese of Western Michigan, I chaired the Commission on Hispanic Ministry. Before my ordained ministry, I ran a non-profit consulting business and have almost 20 years of experience serving the larger community. I have sat on the Boards, and Executive Committees, of organizations focused on regional issues ranging from building diverse neighborhoods to finding solutions to the urban food desert to the health of public waterways to providing services for the unhoused. I look to bring this body of experience, and my personal passion for collaborative, inclusive work, to the Diocese of Southern Ohio.
Through baptism we are all called to give the best of ourselves, helping one another bringing about the reign of God. Those gifts look different for each of us. As the Body of Christ, we fill different roles, each equally important, each unique. One part I can play, with my background and passion for the work of commissions and boards, is to serve on Diocesan Council. It would be an honor and a privilege to assist in this capacity.
