Be it resolved, that in accordance with the request of the 68th General Convention, the Diocese of Southern Ohio initiate studies to consider the pastoral, personal and theological implications of abortion.
Be it further resolved, that a diocesan commission be appointed to oversee a process of study which includes those local congregations willing to be involved, such study to include at least the following:
1) The official position of this Church as expressed in the resolutions on abortion adopted by the General Conventions of 1976, 1979 and 1982.
2) The study paper of the House of Bishops Committee on Theology entitled, “Theological Reflection Paper on Abortion.”
Be it further resolved, that information arising from this study be circulated throughout the diocese and reported to the Episcopal Church’s Standing Commission on Human Affairs and Health.
