Resolved that, the Diocese of Southern Ohio search out and eradicate all forms of institutional sexism from the structures and constituencies of the Church, with the following actions to be taken:
A) We urge the Bishop: to labor diligently among his peers for the election and ordination of qualified women to the Order of Bishop; to pursue a course of affirmative action in calling qualified lay and clergy women for positions on church-related staffs as they become open; and to keep this Diocese informed as to actions taken in these matters.
B) The policy of this Diocese is that search committees and vestries shall be urged strongly to interview women for all positions requiring ordained persons. To this end, names of qualified women shall be made available to such committees by the Bishop’s office and any Diocesan Deployment Officer.
C) The policy of this Diocese is that no person shall be denied opportunity to serve as licensed chalice bearer, lay reader, acolyte, warden, usher or in any other capacity, lay or ordained, volunteer or professional, elected or appointed, by reason of that person’s sex.
