St. Stephen’s, Columbus

Please reflect on your participation in the life of your congregation, the diocese, and the larger community:

At St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Columbus, OH, I have organized and maintained a lay collect writing ministry for our Sunday services. It allows the congregation to become involved in the writing of the collect of the day. I have served a three year term on Vestry, which I found very rewarding. I participated in the search committee which called our rector two years ago. I have not been involved at the Diocesan level yet, but would greatly enjoy the opportunity.

Why do you feel God is calling you to serve in this position?

Ever since I joined the Episcopal Church in my young adulthood, it has been my home. As I became more involved in the congregation, I learned more about the larger church as a whole. I am interested to learn and participate on a higher level. My service on search committee gave me a taste of church canon and polity, which I found fascinating. As an up and coming leader in my vocation as an Oncology nurse, I feel God is challenging me to become more involved within my faith. This would be an excellent way to do so.
